I live outside the small
town of Dardanelle, Arkansas. The sky is relatively dark
and the weather is tolerable for most of the year. As
you can see on the observatory page, I've made a few
efforts to minimize how much southern US weather and
insects I need to experience while observing.
I am a high school
educator who teaches biological sciences ranging from AP
biology to human anatomy and physiology. That might come
as a surprise to some visitors. Many might think I would
be more likely to teach physics, chemistry, and
astronomy, although I must point out that this is a
hobby that I enjoy away from my work. I think it is good
to have a little time when the two aren't necessarily
homogenous.
Below I've included a
few tools I find helpful in determining atmospheric
conditions whenever I'm considering a visit to the
observatory.
Clear Sky Clock: (An extremely
useful tool!)

The above diagram was created by Atilla
Danko, and it uses forecast data from the Canadian
Meteorological Center. To better understand how to interpret the
forecast, a legend page is accessible by clicking on the Clear Sky Clock or by
